Capital Air Duct Pros

Who We Are

We're a air duct cleaning company based in Los Gatos, CA. We've worked this area long enough to know the neighborhoods, the housing stock, and the kinds of calls that come in regularly.

You call or book online, and we give you a two-hour arrival window. We call when we're on the way. The first thing the lead tech does at your house is look at the system before quoting anything: how many supply runs, where the returns are, whether the attic is accessible, whether it's hard pipe or flex. Then you hear the number, and you decide. Nothing gets touched until you say go. What moves that number on a duct cleaning is mostly run count and access. A single-story ranch with eight supplies and one big hallway return is straightforward. Two zones, a second return in a bedroom hall, a tight attic you crawl on your belly through, or boots buried under blown-in insulation all add time. Heavy ash or rodent contamination changes the job too, since that's remediation, not a routine cleaning.

Los Gatos homes split into two groups. The 1950s-1970s ranch tracts have sheet metal trunk-and-branch systems in vented attics, and those attics hit 130-150F in summer, so supply ducts gain heat, systems run longer, and whatever is in the duct gets cycled harder. Mid-80s onward construction switched to flex duct, which sags between supports, collects dust in the low spots, and tears or disconnects at boot and plenum collars. We find both constantly. Dry season gives us six months of fine silt and pollen with no rain to knock it down. Wet season brings crawlspace moisture and condensation on cold supply runs in unconditioned space. Wildfire smoke seasons since 2017-2020 loaded a lot of South Bay systems with fine ash that settled in returns and blower housings, which is still the most common reason people here call us.

On site we run a truck-mounted vacuum, pull negative pressure on the trunk, seal off every register with film, then work each run with rotary brushes and air whips back toward the vacuum. We clean the return drops, the plenum, and the blower housing, since that's where the loaded material actually sits. We work on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, and American Standard equipment. If we open your system and the ducts are clean, we say so and you pay nothing for a cleaning you don't need. That happens more than you'd think, usually in houses that have kept up on filter replacement. Sometimes the real problem is leakage at the collars or sagging flex, and duct sealing is the fix that matters. Sometimes the airflow complaint is a dirty evaporator, and coil cleaning solves it. We'd rather tell you that on the first visit than sell you the wrong job.

Our service area

We cover Los Gatos and the surrounding towns. If you're in one of these areas and have a air duct cleaning problem, call us. We usually get out the same day.

How we decide whether a duct run is worth cleaning, repairing or replacing

Should you clean a duct that is already failing? Often no. We look before we quote. Flex duct that sags between straps has low spots. Dust settles there. Cleaning it does not stop the sag. If the run is crushed, torn, or pulled off a boot collar, we say replace that run and leave the rest alone.

Sheet metal trunk-and-branch is different. The 1950s-1970s ranch tracts around Los Gatos used rigid galvanized in vented attics. Rigid lasts. Usually the metal is fine and the joints and insulation are the problem. That is a repair, not a teardown.

Attic heat matters most. It runs 130-150F here in summer and bakes old flex jackets brittle. Crawlspace moisture under shallow-foundation homes shows up as damp insulation and condensation on cold supply runs. Fine ash from the wildfire smoke seasons since 2017-2020 loads returns and blower housings more than the supply side.

You can check some of this yourself. Open an attic hatch. Look for duct lying on joists, silver tape curling, or a disconnected boot.

We are a mobile operation. Fabrication and any off-site work is handled off-site, not on your property.
